23 NC representatives withdraw candidacies

KATHMANDU, Sept 19:  Twenty-three of the total 361 aspirants for various positions in the Nepali Congress (NC) Central Working Committee have withdrawn their candidacies on Sunday.



According to NC 12th General Convention Election Committee, Bishwo Prakash Sharma and Ashok Kumar Pokharel withdrew their candidacies for CWC members from the open category. Altogether 99 candidates had fielded candidacies in the open category. [break]



Pharmullah Mansur from Muslim quota, Rakesh Singh from Madhesis and Angdawa Sherpa and Kushum Devi Thapa from Aadibasi/Janajati quota also withdrew their candidacies on Sunday.



Likewise, those withdrawing their candidacies from zonal seats include Gokarna Poudel from Lumbini, Lokesh Dhakal, Dhruva Prasad Adhikari and Bal Chandra Poudel from Bagmati, Tej Narayan Kalwar from Narayani zone.



Hemanta Bahadur Malla and Gopalji Jung Shah, Dhruva Raj Puri and Mukti Prasad Sharma from Rapti Narayan Dutta Mishra from Dhaulagiri, Dr Yagya Adhikari and Hari Prasad Shrestha from Gandaki, Shobhit Bahadur Adhikari from Mechi and Tanka Prasad Rai from Koshi zones are also among those withdrawing their candidacies.



NC General Convention Election Committee had given two-hour starting 10 am Sunday to withdraw candidacies. With the withdrawal of 23 candidates, altogether 338 candidates are now in the fray for various positions in the party´s central decision making body.
