Nembang said the main objective of the meeting is to seek an end to the ongoing political deadlock. "The top leaders will be urged mainly to find a way to form a government soon and expedite the statute drafting process," Nembang told myrepublica.com.
The Speaker said he will brief the leaders on the response he has received at several meetings with other political parties including a meeting at the Business Advisory Committee (BAC), which represents all 25 political parties, and he will also ask if the leaders have made any progress.
Nembang has called the meeting at a time when he has been pressed by lawmakers and by others to take initiative to expedite the constitution writing process.
Lawmakers to meet at parliament premises
A group of lawmakers, who have been pressing the Speaker and top leaders to push the statute drafting process, have planned a meeting of lawmakers from all parties at the old parliament hall at Singha Durbar to further consolidate their drive.
Meeting Nembang at his office a few weeks ago, around 40 UML lawmakers demanded that he take special initiative to forward the preliminary drafts prepared by the CA thematic committees to the Constitutional Committee, which is entrusted with preparing an integrated draft incorporating all the drafts.
The lawmakers also met UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal and urged him to the same end.
But this time the lawmakers plan an all-party gathering.
"We have talked to lawmakers from other parties as well and we are hopeful they will be present in significant numbers," UML lawmaker Binda Pandey, who is actively involved in the campaign, told myrepublica.com.
According to her, they also plan to form a loose inter-party organization to make their campaign more effective.
