KATHMANDU, Sept 25: CPN-UML leader KP Sharma Oli has said that it would be a betrayal to UML if UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal does not formally withdraw his candidacy to the post of Prime Minister in parliament on Sunday.

As per the three-point agreement reached between the Maoists and UML on September 17, Daha was to withdraw his candidacy, however the letter in that regard given to the Speaker is only a puzzle of words, he argued.[break]

Speaking at a program organized to mark the eighth memorial meet of late Laxmi Narayan Tandukar, the then District Committee member of the UML at Pushpa Lal Chowk (Nardevi) Saturday, Oli said if the Maoists do not follow the agreement then the UML would not hold any dialogue on matters relating to the Prime Minister´s election.

The Maoists will have to pay a heavy price if they fail to enforce the agreement, he warned.

He also said that peace and Constitution cannot be completed unless the Maoists give up violence and anarchism, and choose a democratic path.
