A meeting of the commission took the decision to this effect on Sunday as per the recommendation by the party´s probe panel formed to investigate into the matter. [break]UML formed the panel on September 2. The party´s central committee is the body to finally enforce the decision.
"However any decision on Karki´s status as lawmaker will be taken only after the investigating into the matter," said a statement issued by the party´s disciplinary body. The case is sub-judice in the Special Court.
Karki was arrested while allegedly accepting Rs 100,000 as a bribe from a youth in return for appointment as a police inspector.
"We took the decision to suspend him on the basis of our preliminary findings. We remain silent in relation to his post in parliament as we are yet to conclude the investigation," Amrit Bohara, chief of the party´s disciplinary commission, told Republica.
