KATHMANDU, July 17: A newborn baby girl was found in the toilet of Civil Hospital, Minbhawan in Kathmandu.
Hospital Chief Bimal Thapa told Republica Online that she believes that the newborn was born outside the hospital and was left in the toilet by her mother.
Hospital administration said that the infant was handed over to Sarah Bista, a resident of Khumaltar Lalitpur-15 after essential treatment.
Despite, being married for many years, Bista had no children.
As the Central Child Welfare Committee does not admit infants, the baby girl was handed over to Bista who was interested to adopt the child.
According to DSP Narayan Prasad Chimoriya at Metropolitan Police Circle, New Baneshwor, the infant was found wrapped in a cloth.
“We are investigating the case and searching for the one who abandoned the child,” he said.
The hospital had informed the police immediately after the unclaimed infant was found at the hospital premises.
