HAL Coach Murali was vocal in the signing ceremony on Tuesday in praising the versatile defender of Nepali national team. "He is young but excellent", Murali said. The coach of the Bangalore-based club said he found Chand confident. "He looks confident. He is a little introvert but I know he is capable of showing his game in the I-League," said Murali.
Chand was excited during the signing ceremony, goalnepal.com reports. “I´m excited to explore my career in India. I feel lucky to be signed by HAL. I hope that I could play well in the I-League," said Chand.
Chand thanked All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) during the signing ceremony. "I am here only because of ANFA and its football academy. I feel proud to be an ANFA product. I would like to thank my former clubs Manang Marshyangdi and G-Five Machhindra club," Chand said.
HAL have recruited Chand for Rs 128,000 per month. According to a source, Chand signed the contract to play for the club from September 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011. The contract also states that Chand will receive a bonus of Rs 10,000 per month if the club succeeds in remaining in the I-League.
Chand who played last year´s AFC U-19 qualifiers completed his I-League transfer on Tuesday in the newly promoted I-League club HAL. Chand, a product of ANFA Academy, debuted for the Nepali national team against Palestine during the Challenge Cup Qualifiers 2009 on home ground.
Within a month, this is the second signing of a Nepali footballer by an I-league club. Earlier, Sandeep Rai had signed with second division I-League club Mohammedan Sporting Club, Kolkata. Anil Gurung has been playing for another Indian club Shillong Lajong since last season.
