Emphasizing on the need of information technology, Karna said information technology is not just the support system but also the mode of production. He further informed that the main objective of the event is to raise awareness amongst the people regarding software, service and solution.

"The expansion of information communication technology (ICT) as industry helps in fulfilling the country´s requirement and further helps in economic development," he added. He also said Nepal should focus on software development as there is no infrastructure for production of hardware.

The event will open from 10 am to 5 pm for visitors, CAN secretary Narayan Neupane said. He also said students from government school can visit the event free of cost. CAN has decided to collect entrance fee of Rs 50 from general visitors.

Trilok Malla, managing director of DECC, said they have already put in place security and other necessary facilities for the event. “We have already arranged help desk for the exhibitors and visitors,” he added.

Ganesh Shah of Institute of Engineering under Tribhuvan University - one of the exhibitors - suggested CAN not to limit the event only for exhibition purpose. “Events like this should provide a platform for upcoming innovators by helping them find investors and identify market for their products,” he added.

Binaya Regmi of Ebuzz Asia claimed that he has developed a first search engine based in Nepal. Regmi said they were in search of investors and hoped that their initiative would become successful.

The four-day event will feature 58 stalls of private companies and eight government pavilions. Organizers are expecting about 60,000 visitors in the annual event. Midas Technology, one of the popular software developers, is the title sponsor of the event.
