UDAYAPUR, Aug 25: Lack of drinking water has hit the district hospital of Khotang for the past two months.

Though the hospital requires 7,000 liters of water for treatment purposes daily, it has only been able to fulfill one fourth of its requirement. If the water scarcity continues, the hospital might soon have to halt its services, said doctor Om Biju Pant. This has also affected sanitation in the hospital, he added.

Ditle Bazaar drinking water project´s failure to provide water on a regular basis has created such problem, Sagar Prasai, Chief, of Public Heath Officer said. Lack of water has also affected maternal service. Around 49 women are admitted to the hospital every month for maternity services.
