21 sportspersons awarded on Constitution Day

KATHMANDU, Sept 21: Twenty-one sportspersons out of 635 civilians have been named by the Government of Nepal for different awards on the occasion of the Fifth Constitution Day and National Day, Friday. 

Nepal national women football team’s head coach Hari Khadka has been named for Prabal Jana Sewa Chaturtha Division Medal along with national volleyball team’s head coach Bharat Shah. Deepak Shrestha, weight-lifting’s Tika Kumar Pun, wrestling’s Bhagwati Khadka, and Surya Kumari Gurung have also been selected for the prestigious award.

Similarly, star football player Sabitra Bhandari, cricketer Sompal Kami, Asian junior athletics champions Ajit Kumar Yadav, Ajay Tamang, badminton player Prince Dahal, body builder Maheshwor Maharjan, former national football player Ananta Raj Thapa, shooting’s Phool Mata Kyapchhaki, karate’s Mandekaji Shrestha and Mahima Koirala have been named for prestigious Jana Sewa Shree Pancham Division award.

Likewise, football team’s captain Niru Thapa, swimmer Gaurika Singh, volleyball player Reshma Bhandari, golf’s Tanka Bahadur Karki, Srijana Maya Lama and boxing’s Puran Rai have been selected for Sukriti Medal.

Nepal volleyball association’s vice-resident RanjanKhadka is also been selected for Jana Sewa Pancham Division Medal.

All the selections for the prestigious awards have been based on the players’ record and performance last year.
