KATHMANDU, Aug 12: The Unified CPN (Maoist) on Thursday refuted the accusation that the party is being involved in trading the votes of the lawmakers.

A central committee meeting termed the accusation misleading and unfounded.[break]

The committee will meet again on August 19 – the same day CPN-UML is scheduled to hold their central committee meeting.

Lawmakers, especially those associated with Madhesh-based parties, had accused Maoists of offering financial benefits for the votes in the election of the prime minister. The four round of the election at the parliament failed to elect the prime minister where Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal is a candidate along with Nepali Congress’ Ram Chandra Paudel.

The meeting also decided to continue talks with CPN-UML and other parties for the formation of government under Maoist leadership. The party also decided to continue their efforts for the formation of the national consensus government.
