2010 Year Against Gender Discrimination

KATHMANDU, Sept 9: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal launched a National Campaign on Violence Against Women in Kathmandu on Wednesday. On the occasion, Nepal declared the year 2010 as Year Against Gender Discrimination. [break]



During the year, awareness campaigns will be launched, and victims of gender-based discrimination will be provided health, legal and psychological services apart from security. The premier said he wants every daughter of the country to get opportunities on a par with his own daughter.







Constituent Assembly member Sapana Malla Pradhan, actress Karishma Manandhar and actor Nikhil Uprety also spoke about need to end gender-based discrimination and violence.
