The apex policy making body of the government that discussed on the concept paper of the new plan here further said that the new employment opportunities will be created through timely changes in education and training patterns after identifying the potential sectors for employment. [break]
"It wouldn´t be difficult to meet the target of generating employment if we succeed to effectively implement the youth-centered development strategy," Yuba Raj Khatiwada, vice-chairman of NPC, said presenting the concept paper for the three-year plan for fiscal year 2010/11-2012/13 at an interaction on Wednesday.
The NPC has also expressed optimism to meet Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) within 2015 as committed by the government.
Khatiwada also clarified that NPC formulated three-year plan instead of five-year plan as the country is bracing for federal structure in near future. He also said the government has set a target of achieving 6 percent economic growth during the three-year plan with the goal of reducing poverty level to 21 percent.
"Main target of three-year plan is to achieve poverty reduction and sustainable peace through inclusive and equally accessible justice to all," said Khatiwada.
He also stated that the plan was formulated in line with the Comprehensive Peace Accord, directive principle of Interim Constitution and common minimum programs of the government.
The concept paper also emphasized on increasing investment from private sector in small hydropower projects so as to reduce deepening load shedding problem besides encouraging foreign investment in big hydropower and other projects generating employments.
On the occasion, Tirtha Khaniya, member of NPC, also stressed on the need to encourage employment-oriented education.
