20 districts in MPRF's 'one Madhes'

KATHMANDU, Sept 14: The Madhesi People´s Rights Forum (MPRF) has prepared its federal model with "one Madhes one province" comprising 20 districts in the southern plains. The party has submitted a copy of its model to the CA Committee on State Restructuring, but has told the committee that it is still an informal proposal as the party is continuing discussion to work out the underlying rationale.



"We have decided to present one Madhes one province proposal as it is the best way to address the problem of the region," said MPRF co-chairman JP Gupta. He said the party had to submit a copy of its federal model in haste to meet the deadline set by the CA committee and as the deadline has been extended now the party decided to further discuss the proposal. He said the party will not change its one Madhes one province demand at any cost.



The 20 Tarai districts include: Kanchanpur, Kailali, Bardiya, Banke, Dang, Kapilvastu, Rupandehi, Nawalparasi, Chitwan, Parsa, Bara, Rautahat, Sarlahi, Mahottari, Dhanusha, Siraha, Saptari, Sunsari, Morang and Jhapa.
