2 dead, 12 hurt in Kaski road mishaps

POKHARA, March 31: Two persons have been killed and around two dozen others injured in separate road mishaps in Kaski district on Saturday.



Santosh Kunwar, 26, of Phalebas, Parbat, was critically injured when an ambulance (Ba 9 Cha 781), en route from Baglung to Pokhara, hit his motorcycle (Ga 6 Pa 3099) at Baskot in Hemja. [break]



Kunwar died at the Western Regional Hospital, Pokhara, during the course of his treatment. The pillion rider, Gopal Shrestha, 35, from the same place, also was injured in the incident. He has been undergoing treatment at Manipal Hospital, Pokhara.



Police have have impounded the ambulance and nabbed the driver.



Likewise, a speeding micro-bus (Ga 1 Kha 1791) struck a cyclist to death at Nadipur in Pokhara. The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.



In another road mishap, at least 12 passengers were injured when the bus (Ga 1 Kha 1477) they were traveling in overturned on the road at Lumle. The bus was heading to Baglung from Pokhara.



The injured are receiving treatment at various health facilities in Pokhara. Their conditions are said to be normal.
