KATHMANDU, May 9: The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has provided Rs 500,000 to assist in the treatment of Kapil Shahi (Raute) of Achham and to also conduct kulpooja (ancestral worship) of the Raute community.
Shahi, 20, had suffered burn injuries to his arms, back and stomach while sitting by a fire to ward off cold in December, 2015. He was ready to seek medical treatment for his burn injuries around after 16 months of the incident and is being treated in a capital-based health facility. The Rautes are a nomadic people who are still reluctant to adopt a modern living including medical treatment.
The fund was provided at the command of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, the OPMCM said.
The Raute people perform the Mahakulpooja (a grand ancestral worship) in every 12 years. RSS
