Talking to media after successful completion of mountaineering training in the Langtang Region, Laxman Bhattarai, a member of the team and spokesperson at the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoTCA), said the main objective of the expedition is to bring necessary reforms in the mountaineering sector.
The team had also reached the summit of Yala Peak (5,560m) as a part of their training on rock climbing, hiking, rope works and alpine activities, among others. The training was conducted by Nepal Mountaineering Training Academy Development Committee.
“We are climbing Mt Everest not because we want cheap publicity or we have interest in mountaineering. We are hopeful that this expedition will boost the morale of all government employees,” Secretary Poudel said.
Ang Tsering Sherpa, former chairman of Nepal Mountaineering Association, said the expedition would help government officials understand the real problems in the mountaineering sector and find solutions to them.
