NRB freezes 20 bank accounts

KATHMANDU, July 2: Nepal Rastra Bank, as per the request by Inland Revenue Department (IRD), has frozen bank accounts of 20 firms in charge of evading taxes by not settling due taxes for a long time.



Sources close to the development told myrepublica.com that bank accounts of the companies were frozen after IRD´s repeated attempts aimed at settling due taxes failed. [break]



In a letter sent late on Thursday evening, the central bank has directed banks and financial institutions not only to freeze account being held at name of companies or individuals associated with the companies but also to forward the details of the account to the IRD as soon as possible.



Cosmic Motorcycle Manufacturing, Ambe International, Kathmandu Maida Mills, Udayshree Tea Factory, Nepal Orient and Magnesite, Udayshree Plastics and The Right Shoes are among the 20 companies whose bank accounts have been frozen.
