KATHMANDU, March 7: Nurses in Kanti Children´s Hospital, Maharajgunj have halted works at the hospital since early Saturday morning following disputes with visitors after a six-month old baby died while undergoing treatment at the hospital in the morning.
The dispute had taken a nasty turn when Bandana Bista from Chakkarghatti VDC of Sunsari district strangled nurses alleging that her son Robert Bista had died due to negligence of the hospital staff. [break]
Situation at the only children´s hospital in the country has remained tense even after Bandana apologized for attacking the nurses.
Nurses protested against police personnel deputed at the hospital. According to the nurses, a police inspector deputed at the hospital had told the nurses that those who need security can quit the job. Scores of police personnel have been deputed at the hospital.
