SPORTS BRIEFS: Morgan, Xavier win in Nobel Cup

KATHMANDU, June 23: Morgan Int´l, Xavier Int´l and White House (Khumaltar) won their respective matches under women´s category on Wednesday in the First Nobel Cup U-19 National 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament at the covered hall of Dasharath Stadium.



Morgan eased past New Summit 33-12 riding on 18 points of Noran Gurung. Xavier Int´l beat Rato Bangala 26-19. Shiwa Karmacharya netted 14points for Xavier. White House saw off NASA B 26-15. Merina KC contributed 12 points for White House. [break]



Under men´s category, Trinity A, Triton, Pentagon A and Xavier Int´l A emerged victorious. Trinity had a narrow 33-30 win over Buce Phaluc and Triton toiled hard to beat Prime 33-31.  Manish Shrestha topscored with 18 points for Trinity and Kewal Sunuwar netted 16 points for Trinity.



Similarly, Pentagon registered a comfortable 33-12 victory over Rockets with 12 points from Anish Shahi. Likewise, Xavier eased past Trinity 32-12. Sagar Thapa scored 12 points for the winning side.





Greenland, Homeland victorious



KATHMANDU, June 23: Greenland Children Academy, Homeland and Zenith won their respective matches on Wednesday in the Coca Cola Cup Inter-school Boys´ Football Tournament at the Sano Gaucharan ground.



Manish Thapa completed a hat-trick for Greenland as they beat Divya Deep Jyoti 3-1. Sushant Shrestha pulled one back for Divya Deep Jyoti.



Homeland defeated Mahankal Janajagriti HSEB 3-0. Sanju Tamang and Manish Maharjan scored one each for the winning side while Jeevan Thapa scored an own goal as opener. Shiva Khatri scored a brace for Zenith as they ousted Kathmandu Bidya Mandir 2-1. Ashok Wagle pulled one back for Kathmandu.



In another match, Nawaratna School dispatched Holycare 2-0. Sanjay Lama scored two goals for Nawaratna. In other matches held at Chyasal ground, Shining Star, Joseph School, Children´s Garden and Shramjeet Kishor emerged victorious.
