19 NC men quit over poll candidate

BIRATNAGAR, March 13: A total of 19 leaders of the Nepali Congress (NC) Morang district unit have resigned from their party responsibilities expressing discontent over the party´s decision to nominate the son of President Dr Ram Baran Yadav as the candidate for the by-election in Dhanusha. The party had recently nominated Dr Chandra Mohan Yadav, son of President Yadav, as its candidate for Dhanusha constituency-5. The chairmen of altogether 13 Village Development Committees (VDCs) as well as the NC chairmen duo of constituency-5, Mohan Mathema and Jogi Panjiyar, have resigned. There are 15 VDCs in the constituency.



The VDC chairmen and Mathema and Panjiyar have charged that the party chose a candidate who lacks political understanding or any command in the party rank and file. Similarly, Dhanusha NC secretary Rajkishor Singh said NC joint secretary Kubarkanta Jha, Tarun Dal central leader Ram Paltan Sah, NC district committee member Bhagaru Yadav and Santosh Yadav have also resigned, expressing dissatisfaction over the candidate selection.



NC candidate for Dhanusha constituency-5 Yadav arrived in Janakpur Friday afternoon after a long absence. According to a local journalist Birendra Raman, no one other than family members were at the airport to welcome him.
