Manmohan Cardiothoracic and Vascular Transplant Centre to expand services

KATHMANDU, April 26: The Tribhuvan University (TU), Manmohan Cardiothoracic and Vascular Transplant Center is to expand its services constructing a new building with all the modern facilities. 

Information about this was shared at a programme organised to mark the Centre's 8th anniversary here today.
The new building would have a VVIP suite and a hybrid operation theatre, it was stated on the occasion. 

Addressing the programme, Health Minister Gagan Kumar Thapa said the Ministry would extend support to the Centre for developing its health infrastructure. 
He said the Ministry was working on to developing the human resources, services and infrastructure of all the health centres across the country. 

Executive Director of the Centre, Prof Dr Uttam Krishna Shrestha said the new building would be built in two years. He said the Centre is also going to set up another lab from the coming fiscal year to upgrade the quality of services. 

"The Centre has upgraded the quality of its services and we have succeeded in providing the services at a par with the services available in the Western countries. We plan to increase and upgrade our services," he added. 

TU Rector Prof Dr Sudha Tripathi said the Centre has done exemplary work in terms of academic and managerial aspects. 
TU Registrar Dilliram Uprety also praised the service and the facilities provided by the Centre. 

Chief of the Vascular Surgery Department, Prof Dr Bhagawan Koirala said the government should consider keeping doctors on temporary postings and expressed concern that the service might be hampered if it is not done. 
The Centre carried out about 1,900 operations last year. It also earned Rs 170 million. The Centre is named after former Prime Minister Man Mohan Adhikari. RSS
