184 Nepali nationals granted amnesty in the UAE and Qatar

The UAE has granted amnesty to 166 Nepali nationals serving sentences for various offenses. Earlier, the government of Qatar had also granted amnesty to 18 Nepali nationals serving sentences for various offenses, making the total of 184 in both countries.

KATHMANDU, April 1: The UAE has granted amnesty to 166 Nepali nationals serving sentences for various offenses. Earlier, the government of Qatar had also granted amnesty to 18 Nepali nationals serving sentences for various offenses, making the total of 184 in both countries.


On the occasion of Eid, the UAE extended this general amnesty to them. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a press release stating, "The Government of Nepal sincerely thanks the United Arab Emirates for generously granting amnesty to 166 Nepali prisoners on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan and Eid."

The UAE made the decision to grant the amnesty at the request of the Government of Nepal through the Nepali Embassy in Abu Dhabi. The Ministry emphasized that this humanitarian act of pardon is highly appreciated as a symbol of goodwill in the bilateral relations between Nepal and the UAE.
