18 Nepali nationals rescued from Israel with India’s help

KATHMANDU, Oct 18: A total of 18 Nepali nationals have been evacuated from Israel with the help of the Indian government.

The stranded Nepali nationals were evacuated along with 286 Indian nationals that the Indian government evacuated from Israel as a part of Operation Ajaya.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), the Nepali nationals evacuated on Tuesday are among those applying online to return to Nepal following terrorist attacks in Israel by the Hamas militants.

Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar confirmed the rescue of Nepali nationals along with Indian nationals. "Operation Ajaya update. 286 more passengers are coming back to India. Also carrying 18 Nepalese citizens," he tweeted on Tuesday.

MOFA officials said the res- cued Nepali nationals were flown to New Delhi from Tel Aviv at 9AM (local time) by SpiceJet Airline. They are expected to reach New Delhi by 6PM to 7PM on Tuesday.

Foreign Minister NP Saud said that they were rescued from Israel's Tel Aviv by an Indian rescue plane. He said that the Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi will arrange vehicles and send them to Nepal upon their arrival in New Delhi.

The rescued Nepali nationals will be brought to Kailali through the Gaurifanta border crossing with the help of a bus arranged by the Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi. From Kailali, the District Administration Office, Kailali will make an arrangement to take them to their respective homes.

The rescued Nepali citizens include Nanda Singh Bhul, Sujendra Khadka, Prati- bha Rauniyar, Anuma Dangol, Heena Khan, Atis Gurung, Junu Gurung, Mausami Pakhrin, Pratima Timilsina, Rajkumar Manandhar, Sangeeta Dulal, Urmila Rawal, Mamata Thapa, Dilkumari Adhikari Karki, Nis- chal Shrestha, Samita Basnet, Ambika Subedi, Sarita Gurung and Urmila Shrestha.
