House committee directs govt to send technical team to Kanchanpur

KATHMANDU, March 31: Social Justice and Human Rights Committee of the Parliament on Friday directed the government to send a technical team to those districts and areas, where there are border disputes with neighboring countries.
The House panel on Friday directed the government to send a technical team to Punarbas of Kanchanpur district as soon as possible. The committee took the decision after discussing about the incident that happened in Punarbas, Kanchanpur, where a Nepali citizen Govinda Gautam was killed by Indian boarder security force SSB in a dispute regarding a construction near the Nepal-India boarder.
The committee also urged the government to provide reparation to the family of the Gautam and to make necessary arrangement for the treatment of Tikaram Chapagain, who sustained injuries on the same firing incident.
Meanwhile, the committee formed a five member subcommittee to study the incident of death of a student at the school run by Nepal Police at Samakhushi, Kathmandu. The committee took the decision after Kundan Thapa, student of grade eight at the school, was found dead on Wednesday. The House panel formed the subcommittee formed to study the incident includes lawmakers Ongdi Sherpa, Usha Yadav, Khadga Bahadur Basyal Sarki, Laxmi Thapa Paswan and Sabiya Prabin.
