"People have heaved a sigh of relief following the withdrawal of the nation wide agitation," read a press statement issued by FNCCI on Saturday.
The Maoists had staged nationwide protests for the last six days demanding resignation of the prime minister and formation of a national unity government under their leadership. Bowing to pressure from the common people, the Maoists on Friday decided to suspend their banda.
FNCCI, which was also involved in bringing together major political parties on the negotiating table, also urged professional organisations, civil society and business organisationsto play their part in mediating dialogue between political parties to ensure peace and timely promulgation of a democratic constitution in the country.
