In a meeting held at the office of All Nepal National Free Student Organization (ANNFSU-Sixth) on Thursday, student leaders also demanded that the examinations of twelfth grade that have been postponed due to the ongoing protests be held immediately.

The unions that took part in the meeting include student wings of ruling Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML among other political parties while student wing of agitating UCPN (Maoist) had no representation.

"The examinations of twelfth grade have been disrupted due to the general strike. Schools and colleges have been converted into Maoist camps. This has violated students´ right to education. We condemn such acts," said a joint statement issued by the student unions.

"We demand that the government vacate the educational institutions, ensure peace and security and create an appropriate environment to hold examinations," it added.

The student leaders also urged the Maoists to immediately call off their general strike and seek solution through dialogues.
