Fishtail claims rescue record

KATHMANDU, May 1:  A joint team of Fishtail Air and Air Zermatt has performed a record breaking rescue on April 29 using a ´human sling operation´ on Mt Annapurna I (8091m).



According to a press release issued by Fishtail Air, three Spanish climbers were evacuated from 6900m by Fishtail Air´s AS 350 B3, using a human sling operation. The climbers were stranded on the mountain due to bad weather for 36 hours. [break]



The rescue operation was carried out by Capt Daniel Aufdenblatten from Air Zermatt, Switzerland, and Swiss Mountain Guide Richard Lenner who hung on the sling and lifted the stranded climbers.



Fishtail Air, together with Air Zermatt´s assistance, has been carrying out special rescue missions this season using it´s newly acquired AS 350 B3.



The team had also rescued 4 Korean climbers and three Nepali Sherpas from 6,500m on Manaslu on April 26.
