Radhika secondary School in Urlabari-3 has been attracting hordes of students from private schools since it started employing modern teaching methods three years ago. [break]
“Teaching method employed in this school is as good as in my previous school,” Vivek Gautam, who quit his private school for Radhika, explained. Suroj Gautam, like Vivek, also quit Holy Child English Boarding School and enrolled in the seventh grade at Radhika.
Suroj argued that success results in School Leaving Certificate (SLC) exams in his previous school had gone down in the past few years.[break]
“Around 120 students from private schools have joined our school so far and the trend continues,” claimed deputy principal of Radhika Kamal Dahal. He said his school could attract students also because wearing of tie, belt and carrying school bags was made compulsory for students.
“We have provided a tie and belt, which would have cost Rs 100 in private schools, for a mere Rs 35 to attract students and guardians alike. The parents are glad to see their kids go to school in uniform,” Dahal said.
Besides, students can complain it to the school administration if they don´t find teaching methods employed by a teacher satisfactory, said another deputy principal Dineshwar Jha.
“Results have also been improving as a result.” Around 88 percent students passed the SLC exams held recently from Radhika.
