India PM to be late by a day

THIMPU, April 25: The scheduled SAARC summit opening and sideline bilateral talks among the South Asian countries have been affected after Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh informed that his visit to Thimpu would be delayed by a day.



Due to the delay, the opening ceremony scheduled for Wednesday morning would be held in the afternoon. Singh was scheduled to arrive at the Bhutanese capital on Wednesday.



The sideline bilateral talks between Indian PM Singh and Nepali Prime Minister Madhav Nepal and the talks duration have also changed, officials said.



“The sideline talks schedule for the morning would be held in the evening,” said Nepal´s foreign secretary Madan Bhattarai. He said the talks would center on implementing past agreements. Indian embassy in Kathmandu said machine-readable passport issue will also figure in the talks.
