KATHMANDU, March 17: The Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development has appointed 481 chief and executive officers in rural municipalities as office heads to expedite the poll preparation scheduled for May 14.
As per the new federal setup, 744 local units have come into operation across the country. Of them, 481 are rural municipalities and the remaining are municipalities.
The ministry has been planning to mobilize under-secretaries in all municipalities except metropolitan and sub-metropolitan cities. “We have appointed an officer in each rural municipality from yesterday (Thursday),” said Kedar Bahadur Adhikari, secretary at the ministry.
