16 cops including DSP injured in Gaur clash (Update)

RAUTAHAT, July 20: Some 16 police personnel including Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) were injured in clash with protesters. They sustained injuries after cadres of Madhesh-based parties, obstructing the feedback collection on the draft of the new statute, hurled stones.





Gaur, the district headquarters of the Rautahat, has remained tense since this morning as Madhes-based parties continued their protest to disrupt the ongoing feedback collection program on the preliminary draft of the new constitution being held here in the district.

 


 

Madhes-based parties are in protest over holding the feedback collection program inside the closed hall of the Gaur Municipality.

Police have fired five rounds of shots in the air and six tear gas shells to take the situation under control and disperse the protesters who gathered and staged a sit-in in front of the municipality hall.


According to police, the irate protesters vandalized various vehicles including a vehicle, Ba 13 Cha 1451, belonging to Madhav Kumar Nepal, former prime minister and Constituent Assembly member elected from Rautahat Constituency Number 1.

NSP cadres attempt to manhandle UML leader Nepal
Earlier, cadres of Nepal Sadbhawana Party (NSP) had attempted to manhandle CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal at a discussion program held to collection feedbacks on the draft constitution of the new constitution here at Gaur Municipality, Constituency number 1 of district, on Monday morning.

Police, however, informed that leader Nepal is safe in the incident.


Chairs were thrown at leader Nepal and chanted slogans against him as leader Nepal was attending the program at municipality hall as per the schedued feedback collection program.

Accusing the former Prime Minister and CA member from Rautahat-1 of gathering feedbacks on the draft constitution inside closed hall among the limited public after mobilizing security force, NSP cadres launched protest.

Cadres vented their furry over leader Nepal after police did not allow them entering into the program hall, argued NSP President Anil Jha.

NSP cadres are still staging a sit-in chanting slogans against leader Nepal in front of the hall.
