Nepse gains on second straight day

KATHMANDU, April 4: After weeks of bearish trend, Nepse index post gains for two consecutive trading days amid reports of institutional investment coming in the capital market. The benchmark index rose by 1.25 percent or 5.67 points to close at 458.13 points on Sunday, the first day of week´s trading.



Citizen Investment Trust, Employees´ Provident Fund and Rastriya Beema Sanstan have already decided to invest in shares of blue-chip companies listed in Nepse. [break]



“Growing probability of institutional investment in the share market has helped push up the Nepse index in the last two sessions,” said Nawaraj Pokharel, a stockbroker.



During Sunday´s trading, all trading groups moved to the green territory with the Banking group gaining the most. Sub-index of the banking group rose by 8.93 points to close at 435.99 points.



Similarly, Development Bank and Hydropower groups also gained by 6.58 points and 2.43 points to settle at 465.23 points and 714.75 points respectively. The sub-indices of Finance and Insurance groups also went up by 0.57 points and 0.06 points to close at 447.3 points and 563.81 points respectively.
