JANAKPUR, July 7:The District Police Office (DPO), Dhanusha, has arrested four persons on charge of torturing a 13-year-old girl on Wednesday.
The child, Kajal Mandal, of Janakpur-18 was tied for five hours and tortured by her relatives and locals.
The girl was punished for not informing them that her school friend, who was her relative, had eloped.
Preliminary investigation has shown that she was tied, slapped and given mental torture.
The arrested have been identified as Sujit Mandal, 42, Jeetendra Mandal, 20, Ritesh Mandal, 18, and Ram Pandit, 18.
“They were arrested from their house on Wednesday morning and are currently in police custody, said DSP Ramdatta Joshi of the DPO.
