Nepal, Israel sign agri pact

KATHMANDU, March 18: Nepal and Israel have agreed to exchange scientific knowledge and information in agriculture sector.



A framework agreement in this regard was signed on Wednesday in Israel between Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives Mrigendra Kumar Singh Yadav and his Israeli counterpart Shalom Simhon. [break]



A press statement issued by the Israeli Embassy in Kathmandu states that both countries agreed to exchange cooperation in order to contribute to the achievement of national goals of agriculture development, and to promote exchange of technical and scientific knowledge for the benefit of agriculture sector in both the countries.



Under the agreement, both countries will also exchange data and experience on agriculture policies and their implementation and encourage cooperation between associations, organizations and the private sector in the two countries.



“The visit of minister Yadav to Israel and signing of framework agreement is expected to pave the way for extension and deepening of collaboration in agriculture sector for the mutual interests of Nepal and Israel,” the statement added.



A Nepali delegation led by Yadav visited Israel for five days till Thursday.
