Pak woman held with fake 3 million Indian rupees

KATHMANDU, March 15: A Pakistani national was arrested in possession of 3,000,000 rupees in fake Indian currency at Tribhuvan International Airport on Monday afternoon.



Mariyam, a 65-year-old woman carrying a Pakistani passport (AC 0942713) was arrested during a security check upon arrival at TIA by a Pakistan Airlines flight. Flight TK 268 from Karachi landed in Kathmandu at 4 p.m. [break]



Fake Indian currency notes in denominations of 500 amounting to Rs 2,500,000 and of 1,000 totalling 500,000 were recovered from her baggage which appeared to be full of clothing.



In this connection, a Nepal Police constable--Jitendra Giri -- posted at TIA was also held for interrogations, sources said.



"We have tracked down other possible members of a racket following the arrest," said a senior police officer at TIA.
