KATHMANDU, Mar 9: The government on eve of the 51st anniversary of Tibetan uprising has made stringent security arrangements in the capital to prevent anti-China protests by Tibetans in the capital.

Metropolitan Police will deploy over 1,000 cops to foil possible protests by the Tibetans, officials said.

The police on Wednesday raided some areas of Bauddha but no arrest was reported till late night.

According to senior police officers, four main areas -- Bauddha, Hattisar, Baluwatar and Swayambhunath-- where the Tibetan activists are usually known to have staged protests earlier, will be under tight security and surveillance.

The Tibetan activists have been celebrating March 10 as ´Revolutionary Day´ since 1959.
