15 VDCs sans secretaries, service recipients hit hard

SURKHET (Khajura), Oct 11: Service recipients have been bearing the brunt of the absence of secretaries of over 15 VDCs in western Surkhet.



Mostly day-to-day public services like recommendation for citizenship certificate, birth registration, marriage registration have been adversely affected in the absence of VDC secretaries, said Jayaram Shahi, a local. [break]



Locals complained that the VDC secretaries have been running office from a bag either staying at district headquarter or at own home.



VDC offices of the villages are often opened by office assistant at 12 noon to 2 PM, service recipients added.



Harka Rokaya, a local of far-remote Lagam VDC-4, arrived in district headquarters for land related works twp days ago by passing through 100-km of the distance, but still he has not found VDC secretary.



‘It is hard to pay off the hotel expenses; there is no way to return home with bare hand’, he added.



VDC secretaries are busy engaging in various seminars, workshops and trainings organized at district headquarters for allowance, service recipients further said.



Locals of constituency 3 have demanded the sides concerned to pay attention towards the problems of the service recipients of far-western areas.
