The election commission announced a by-election in Kanchanpur-4 as former prime minister and Nepali Congress (NC) leader Sher Bahadur Deuba has resigned the constituency seat after winning the CA election from Dadeldhura district also.
Harish Thakulla (Kamal Chhetri) of Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), Yagya Raj Joshi of NC, Niru Pal of CPN(UML), Sher Bahadur Chand of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and Jaya Bahadur Malla of Rastriya Janamorcha have filed their nominations.
Other candidates filing nominations are Dashrath Joshi of RPP-Nepal, Devaki Dhami of Rastriya Janashakti Party, Rabindra Bahadur Sunar of Rastriya Janamukti Party, Narbir Punmagar of CPN (Ekikrit), Harikishan Damai of Madhesi People´s Rights Forum, Tulsidevi Dhami of CPN (Samyukta), Radhika Bhatta of Nepal Parivar Dal and two other independent candidates -- Rakesh Sharma and Padam Raj Pant.
