KATHMANDU, Oct 17: Ninety-two people lost their lives in natural disaster-related incidents across the country during this year’s monsoon.
Similarly, 30 people have gone missing and 168 sustained injuries in such incidents. Spokesperson of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, Dhruba Khadka, said the incidents of landslides were the highest among natural disasters that occurred during this monsoon.
In a press meet organized by the Authority at Singha Durbar on Tuesday, he shared that 459 incidents of landslides took place during this monsoon while 142 incidents of floodings, 168 incidents of heavy rainfall and 113 incidents of lightning were reported.
This year's monsoon receded from Nepal on October 15 marking a delay of 13 days while the monsoon lasted in the country for 124 days starting from June 14.
Although less rainfall had taken place in the country this year, landslides and floods following heavy rainfall took place in many places causing heavy destruction.
