PM reiterates consensus need

KATHMANDU, Feb 26: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal on Friday said consensus and cooperation among all political parties was needed to issue a new constitution on time by accomplishing the task of integration of Maoist combatants.



Inaugurating the first convocation ceremony of the College for Professional Studies (CPS), the prime minister said the government is always ready for consensus and cooperation. [break]



He also called on all political parties, civil society organizations, educational institutions and professionals to extend all possible help to facilitate consensus from their respective sectors.



Addressing the convocation ceremony, the prime minister said the graduated students had a bigger role to drive the country to the path of progress. The college is a study center of India´s Silkkim Manipal University.



Saying that the success and failure of the citizens is linked to that of the country´s, he said the country can be stronger if all citizens were educated and skilled.



He said the CPS was also affected by the conflict in the past and by producing over 1,000 graduates the college has set an example that strong will and determination can overcome all hurdles.



Founder of the college P Keshariwal said today´s age is the age of education and qualified students can be produced through the integration of both traditional and modern education.



Senior vice president of Manipal Education Foundation AM Thimaiya said the foundation that has been involved in education and researches for the last 60 years has been running three universities in Bangalore and Sikkim in India and Caribbean country of Antigua.



Director of the college Pankaj Jalan said the college has provided quality education to the students making them competitive in the international market. He said the college has ended the past requirements for students to go to India for convocation from this year.
