The leaders told the activists that the leadership is united in its policies and programs, as ever, and is prepared to lead a people´s revolt, if the constitution-making process falls prey to domestic reactionaries backed by foreigners.[break]
"They told us what they had been saying in the media about the so-called people´s revolt. It was vague and confusing," said a participant from Kochila State Committee.
Around 4200 Maoist field commanders from across the country participated in the two-day jumbo training program at the Nepal Electricity Authority´s training center at Kharipati, Bhaktapur. The cadres remained confused as there were no debates and discussions, though chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal answered the participants´ questions.
"Revolt would be a people´s right if the constitution making falls prey to conspiracies," said Vice chairman Narayankaji Shrestha.
Leaders say the central message of the program was to show that differences in the leadership would not breach the party unity, and that media reports were false. "It was more like speeches in the public. It was totally different from what a training program of a communist party should have been," said a senior Maoist leader.
The disturbing fact for many was the picture of Chairman Dahal hung alongside those of Marx, Lenin, Stalin and Mao. The picture irked leaders in the dais. "But no one dared to speak against it," says another leader.
