The operation was carried throughout the night and until Tuesday morning.
Superintendent of Police Nawa Raj Silwal, chief of Metropolitan Police Range Office, Kathmandu, said they have started interrogated of the arrested people to find out whether they were involved in the assault.

SP Silwal said it is still not clear as to which group was involved in the incident.
No one has owned up the incident till Tuesday morning.
Unidentified armed assailants had shot Basnet soon after he alighted from his vehicle near his rented apartment at Akhileshwar Mahadev temple at Koteshwar at about 7.15 p.m. The assailants had fired five rounds, leaving him injured on his left leg. Two of the bullets had pierced his thigh.
Injured Basnet is currently undergoing treatment at B and B Hospital. Doctors have successfully taken out the bullets from his thigh after an operation. The doctors said the bullets have broken down his femur in the leg.
