14 Dalit families displaced

POKHARA, July 19: Fourteen dalit families have been displaced after the police demolished huts constructed near Buduwa at Malepatan of Lekhnath Municipality-15.



The displaced families have accused the police of demolishing huts without any information. The police, following the direction from the district administration, demolished huts with the help of the locals the huts at 8:30 am on Friday without any information, said 51-year-old Shamsher Gahatraj, one of the victims.



“Following the demolition, we have been taking a refugee at the Informal Sector Service Center (INSEC),” he informed.

However, Chief of the Kaski District Administration Office Pushkar Karki said huts were demolished after issuing a notice. “We are ready to provide security to the displaced families if they sought,” he informed.
