People of Gadseri Village Development Committee (VDC) have been generating 35 KW electricity from local Gadseri river. The project worth Rs 7.29 million has been supplying uninterrupted power to 353 families of 21 villages in the VDC. [break]
District Energy Development Board had provided Rs 3.39 million, District Development Committee 500,000 and Agriculture Development Bank had provided a loan of Rs 600,000 while locals had donated labor worth Rs 1.5 million for the project.
“We had to go searching for pine for light. But we are now living comfortably after completion of this project,” said Ram Bahadur Bohara. “We were limited to radio for news but now can follow the events visually through television,” Bohara added.
Power generation at the local level has also come as a huge relief for students.” We faced great difficulty studying without electricity. But we have no such worries now,” said Shyam Negi, a 10th grader at local school.
