Indicator-based rating offered to hotels and restaurants in Pokhara

POKHARA, Dec 7: The hotels and restaurants in Lakeside, Pokhara, have been offered with logos showcasing their indicator-based standards.

The Food Technology and Quality Control Office, Kaski, has started distributing logos with ratings to the hotels and restaurants based on food hygiene.

Food Research Officer Deepak Kunwar shared that the logo with rating was offered to 14 Resorts, hotels and restaurants in Pokhara in collaboration with the Restaurant and Bar Association Nepal (REBAN) and Hotel Association Nepal (HAN).

According to him, the rating of hotels and restaurants has been determined based on various 50 indicators as per the provisions of Hotel Restaurant Rating Directive, 2074.

Each indicator carries two marks, Kunwar said, adding the logo of three stars with green has been offered to the hotels securing 90 plus score, two stars with green logo to the hotels obtaining 80-89, one star with green logo (satisfactory) to the hotels securing 65-89 and yellow logo (general) to the hotels obtaining 50-64 score.

Based on the indicators, Mount Kailash, Fresh Element, Bar Peepal Resort, Hotel Sarobar, Temple Tree Resort and Atithi Resort were given a three-star rating. Likewise, Meet Five, Hour Café, Paradiso, Dunga Restrau, Moon Dance Hotel Sahara, and Hotel Iceland are rated under the satisfactory category.

Chairperson of Consumers Forum, Gandaki, Kapilnath Koirala said the exercise would help deliver quality service in the tourist city. He further said other hotels and restaurants would also pay attention to provide services in a responsible manner after the distribution of logo rating the hotels.

Chief of Food Technology and Quality Control Office, Shivajee Baral said the indicator-based rating can be provided to the hotels and restaurants on the basis of their letter of intent.
