KATHMANDU, Dec 3: Nepali Congress (NC) candidate Dhan Raj Gurung has led CPN-UML candidate Padma Aryal by 4,631 votes in Syangja-2.
As of Saturday afternoon, Gurung secured 27,032 votes, while Aryal garnered 22,401 votes, according to the District Election Office. A total of 70,191 votes were cast in Syangja-2 during the elections held for the members of the House of Representatives on November 20.
The votes count in this constituency was stalled for almost two weeks after the UML demanded a re-polling saying that several election booths were captured by NC supporters. Following an all-party meeting, the vote counting resumed on Wednesday.
