BUSINESS BRIEFS: SATO-Nepal concerned

KATHMANDU, Jan 20: Society of Adventure Tour Operators´ Association-Nepal (SATO-Nepal) has expressed serious concern over the cabinet decision to allow only group trekkers accompanied by environment and liaison officers to restricted areas along the northern border.



Issuing a press statement, SATO-Nepal said the government earlier had annulled the provision of liaison officers following repeated from private sector. [break]



The organization has demanded the government to immediately annul the new provision to encourage private sector, keeping in view the upcoming Nepal Tourism Year 2011 campaign.





International Dev Bank in Sukedhara



KATHMANDU, Jan 20: International Development Bank opened its third branch in Sukedhara, Kathmandu on Wednesday.



Guinness record holder Min Bahadur Sherchan opened the new branch, according to a statement received on Wednesday. The new branch proves modern banking services like ABBS, ATM and others. The bank started its operation from September, 2009.



The bank has so far mobilized deposits worth Rs 1.32 billion and disbursed loans amounting to Rs. 1.60 billion, according to the statement. The bank also earned an operating profit of Rs 290 million during the period.



The bank has plan to open 10 branches by the end of current fiscal year.





Global Bank in Chhetrapati



KATHMANDU, Jan 20: Global Bank Ltd opened its 24th branch in Chhetrapati, Kathmandu on Wednesday.



Chandra Prasad Dhakal, chairman of the bank, inaugurated the branch, says a press release. The new branch is the bank´s 11th in the capital.



The release also says that the bank is providing modern banking services such as business loan, consumer loan, small and medium loan, Letter of Credit, bank guarantee, remittance, among others.



The bank is also opening new branches in Kupandole, Bhairawa, Phikkal and New Baneshwar soon.
