GULMI, May 24: The construction of a 132 kV substation in Unaychaur, Resunga Municipality-7, Gulmi, is nearing its final stage. This project aims to extend the central power transmission line in the district.

Narayan Thapa, the store head of the Unaychaur substation, reported that the construction work is almost complete, and the process of transformer charging is currently underway.

Thapa mentioned that preparations are being made to distribute electricity after completing the charging work throughout the Nepali month of Jestha (mid-May to mid-June). He stated, "Now, there is work to be done to charge the various devices here. Preparations are in place to distribute electricity by mid-June."

Thapa is optimistic that the extension of electricity from the new substation will resolve many existing issues. An Indian technical team is currently checking the devices and their functionalities.

Currently, electricity in Gulmi is supplied through Butwal's 33 kVA line. Due to its low capacity, residents of Gulmi have been experiencing intermittent power outages. Although the central transmission line reaches Gulmi, a separate substation has been necessary due to the long distance.

The construction of the substation, funded by the Nepal Electricity Authority at a cost of Rs 45 million, is being undertaken by Sigma Con-Narendra Nirman Sewa JV, Baneshwar, Kathmandu.

The new substation will connect Motipur in Kapilvastu to Burtibang in Baglung, passing through Arghakhanchi, Unaychaur in Resunga Municipality in Gulmi, and Paudi Amarahi in Musikot Municipality. Currently, electricity is being distributed in Arghakhanchi through a 132 kVA line.

In addition to Unaychaur in Gulmi, a substation is also rapidly being constructed in Paudi Amarahi. Local resident Janak Panth expressed confidence that the problem of power outages will soon be resolved once the substation is operational.
