A press statement received on Tuesday stated that NBCCI President Rajendra Khetan made a welcome address and said that the chamber was primarily working for increasing trade, commerce, investment and serving towards socio-economic development of Nepal and bi-lateral relationship between Nepal and the UK. On the occasion, Dr Suresh Chalise said economic activities have to pick up and present investment environment needs to be more conducive to have sustainable peace in the country. He further added that British investors are seeking appropriate investment friendly time to come to Nepal.
The ambassador went on to note that widespread corruption has raised the cost of doing business in Nepal, and that poor infrastructure was an obstacle to get business moving, according to the statement.
NBTI gets new CEO
KATHMANDU, Jan 19: National Banking Training Institute (NBTI), the first apex banking training academy in the country, has appointed Sanjib Subba as its first CEO.
A press statement issued on Tuesday states that Subba was selected through an extensive international competitive search process.
He brings with him 19 years of banking and international higher education management expertise, the statement said, adding that Subba´s previous assignment was with Webster University as its executive director in Thailand where he spent nine years.
NBTI was established under the aegis of Nepal Bankers´ Association with support from Asian Development Bank. Apart from commercial banks, its promoters include Nepal Rastra Bank and Rural Microfinance Development Center (RMDC) and it has set aside some equity for other financial institutions.
