Regmi presented the national level first prize to Beni Community School of Myagdi district and Gems School of Lalitpur amid a function organized by the Ministry of Education (MoE) in Kathmandu. The schools received Rs 200,000 each.[break]
Among the community schools awarded from five development region are Jhapa-based Chawun Secondary School, Kathmandu-based Tarun Secondary School, Balmandir Secodary of Kaski, Kanaka Sundari Secondary of Jumla and Galeshori Secondary of Baitadi. Each received Rs 100,000.
The Ratna Secondary School of Bajhang was honored as best performing school of rural area.
The Balkalyan Vidya Mandir of Morang, Nightingale Secondary of Lalitpur, New Horizon School of Rupandehi, Gorkha United Public School of Banke and International Public School of Mahendranagar were awarded as best private schools from the five development regions.
Speaking at the function, Chairman Regmi said that the government plans to implement compulsory and free education in 10 districts within the current fiscal year. He also stressed on the revision of education policies and the school level textbooks to make the education level contextual.
